A set of clinical interventions and skills, including airway management, defibrillation, and pharmacology, aimed at managing patients with cardiac arrest or other life-threatening cardiovascular emergencies.
Expertise Level
Level 1
Basic
1. Understands the fundamental principles of ACLS protocols.
2. Can perform basic life support (BLS) including chest compressions and ventilation.
3. Recognizes common cardiac arrest rhythms such as ventricular fibrillation and asystole.
Level 2
Intermediate
1. Can effectively manage airway with adjunct devices and advanced ventilation techniques.
2. Administers appropriate ACLS medications during resuscitation.
3. Interprets and responds to various cardiac rhythms with appropriate electrical therapies like defibrillation and pacing.
Level 3
Advanced
1. Leads ACLS resuscitation teams and coordinates advanced interventions during cardiac emergencies.
2. Integrates patient assessment data to make rapid, evidence-based clinical decisions.
3. Implements post-resuscitation care strategies to optimize patient outcomes.
