Functional verification is the process of ensuring that a hardware design or software system performs according to its specified requirements by systematically testing and validating its functionality.

Basic
1. Understands basic concepts and terminology of functional verification.
2. Can execute predefined test cases to validate simple functions.
3. Familiar with verification tools and environments.
Level 2
Intermediate
1. Develops and modifies testbenches to verify moderate complexity designs.
2. Identifies and diagnoses functional bugs and reports findings clearly.
3. Applies various verification methodologies such as directed and constrained-random testing.

Advanced
1. Designs comprehensive verification environments for complex systems-on-chip (SoC).
2. Leads verification planning, coverage analysis, and closure activities.
