The process of identifying, evaluating, treating, and reporting security vulnerabilities in systems and software to protect against potential threats.
Expertise Level
Level 1
Basic
1. Understands basic concepts of vulnerabilities and their impact.
2. Can use simple tools to scan for known vulnerabilities.
3. Recognizes common vulnerabilities and basic mitigation techniques.
Level 2
Intermediate
1. Can evaluate vulnerability scan results and prioritize risks based on severity.
2. Able to coordinate remediation efforts with relevant teams.
3. Implements patch management and basic vulnerability remediation processes.
Level 3
Advanced
1. Develops comprehensive vulnerability management strategies and policies.
2. Uses advanced tools and techniques to identify zero-day and complex vulnerabilities.
