Active listening is the practice of fully concentrating, understanding, responding, and remembering what is being said in a conversation to ensure effective communication.
Expertise Level
Level 1
Basic
1. Pays attention to the speaker without interrupting.
2. Shows understanding through basic verbal and non-verbal cues.
3. Can repeat or paraphrase simple information shared.
Level 2
Intermediate
1. Asks clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
2. Provides thoughtful feedback and acknowledges emotions.
3. Remembers key points from conversations for future reference.
Level 3
Advanced
1. Demonstrates empathy and validates speaker’s emotions effectively.
2. Integrates complex information from discussions to support decision-making.
3. Facilitates open communication by encouraging inclusivity and trust.
