Differentiated Instruction is the approach of tailoring teaching methods and materials to accommodate the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of students to maximize their individual growth and success.
Expertise Level
Level 1
Basic
1. Recognizes that students have different learning styles and needs.
2. Uses simple strategies to vary activities or materials for different learners.
3. Begins to observe student responses to different teaching methods.
Level 2
Intermediate
1. Plans lessons that incorporate multiple teaching methods targeting diverse learner needs.
2. Adjusts instruction based on ongoing assessment and student feedback.
3. Provides varied materials and tasks to challenge students at different levels.
Level 3
Advanced
1. Designs comprehensive differentiated instruction plans integrating student data to optimize learning.
2. Leverages a wide range of adaptive strategies to meet individual learner profiles effectively.
3. Leads or mentors others in applying differentiated instruction techniques for diverse classrooms.
